Kimiko Rye writes speculative fiction that explores the intersection of science, ethics, and the choices that define us. Her stories ask what happens when ordinary people are forced to navigate extraordinary systems of power—and whether doing the right thing is ever as simple as it seems.

A fourth-generation Japanese American and dyslexic writer, Kimiko draws inspiration from neuroscience, philosophy, emerging technology, and history to create grounded, character-driven science fiction.

When she isn't writing novels, she's usually reading about consciousness, wandering down research rabbit holes, or asking inconvenient philosophical questions that inevitably find their way into her fiction.

She lives in Southern California with her family, where she's always at work on her next story.
